Hair Care Routine

IMG_3865.JPGI was hesitant to do this post because I don’t like to come across as braggadocious. Bragging about stuff just isn’t my style AT ALL, but as a blogger, I have to work on getting over that and being open regardless of how it comes across.

My hair is something I’ve always been complimented on, and it’s one of the few things about myself, appearance-wise, that I have zero insecurities about. When I get compliments on it, I often say “well it’s all I have going for me” because that’s my way of basically admitting that there’s a lot of things I don’t like about my appearance, but my hair isn’t one of them.

Since I was a teen, I’ve had people (even complete strangers) ask me if I have extensions and also what it is that I use that makes my hair so long and healthy. I’m sure there’s a good portion of this that is attributed to genetics, but I also think I’ve discovered some pretty great hair products over the years. So here we go…

Shampoo’s on Rotation

I LOVE this shampoo because my hair changed when I started using it – it just makes it feel smoother and it protects against damage caused by coloring your hair.

Now that I’m a mom, I’m lazy about going to specific salons to buy my hair products because I always feel like there’s way more important things to get done, so I like to have this giant bottle of affordable Pantene Pro-V on hand because I’ll likely use this for a solid month before finally buying a new Bumble and Bumble. Can’t beat the convenience of Costco

Now that I’m back to being blonde (I have hair color ADD) I’m back to using a purple shampoo once or twice a week. Here’s the one I use because I didn’t want a super expensive one, but I wanted sulfate-free

The Best Conditioner EVER

I don’t remember the exact year that I discovered this, but I’ve been using it for a decade at the very least. I’ve tried different conditioners here and there, but NOTHING ever compares. If anyone really wants THE SECRET to how my hair isn’t super damaged, this is it. Since I sometimes neglect to brush my hair and opt for a mom bun, I will usually brush my hair in the shower after this conditioner has set in for a few minutes – this helps me avoid breakage.

Hair Product (for people who hate hair products)

B02C_250x430

I HATE hair product – I always have to tell a new hair stylists not to put product in my hair because I hate the way it feels. It makes me feel like I need to go home and wash it again. Ladies, this one is the exception. It gives my hair just a tiny bit of extra something so that when I dry it, it responds better to styling (usually waves for me). This stuff is amazing and I’m totally addicted.

The Hair Spray that changed my life

B0L5_250x430

For YEARS I tried various different hair sprays at various price ranges. For YEARS I either had something that made my hair feel sticky and crunchy (hello Big Sexy Hair) or something that just didn’t hold or help my do. Discovering this hair spray changed how my hair looks when I actually do it – and I immediately started getting more compliments on my hair.

The all-natural hair mask, found in the cooking aisle

One day I asked my hair lady (who is very seasoned I might add) to do some sort of a hair mask on me because my hair felt dry – I told her I was willing to pay.

Her response: “No way I’m taking your money for that. Just go to the grocery store and buy some extra virgin coconut oil and soak your hair in it; start doing that every couple of months and don’t ever waste your money on hair masks.”

This stuff is legit ya’ll (I’m not even Southern). Go try this if you haven’t already

As I mentioned in my Insta post, I also try and stretch my washes to every 3-4 days if I can- it def helps that I HATE washing my hair. Also, thick hair runs in my family so at the end of the day, some of this stuff is just genetic, but I still wanted to just share some of my fave products with you all.

Xo,

Beth
